Trips

We run a range of trips for all our students throughout the year. Details of the trips planned for the 2019-20 academic year will be published shortly.

Recent trips

In July 2019 history, English and drama came together in a cross curricular visit to York to Twelfth Night at Shakespeare's Rose Theatre.
The pop up theatre, recreated near Cliffords Tower in York for a second year, allowed students to enjoy the bard in the setting the plays were written for. History students were able to see a physical embodiment of the Elizabethan ‘great chain of being’ and drama students enjoyed interacting with the performers as “groundlings” would have done in the sixteenth century.
Trip leader, Mr Young, said “learning outside the classroom is at the heart of the curriculum at Hope Valley and part of what makes us a distinctively different school. The students were brilliant, a credit to themselves and the college”.

The legendary Year 9 Arcachon trip, which has been running for over 25 years, once again took place during our recent activities week. The trip was ‘blessed’ with record temperatures in France, peaking at 40 degrees and the trip’s ethos of self sufficiency, resilience, team work and acceptance was once again greatly  in evidence. The students erect their own tents and cook their own food, activities include a trip to a waterpark, a visit to the town of Arcachon with the customary game of rounders on the beach, sunbathing by the pool and a ready steady cook event, all with the backdrop of the largest sand dune in Europe. The trip brings out the best in students and life long memories are made, just ask previous attendees! Many thanks to all students for a very enjoyable trip and particularly to the staff ‘A’ team for all their hard work. Here’s to the next 25!
