Ethos and values

At Hope Valley College we have a commitment to the Chorus Education Trust ethos of Outstanding Achievement for All. This means we have the highest expectations of everyone in the school community and believe that, with the right support and with hard work, we are all capable of achieving incredible things that are way beyond expectations.

Our purpose and beliefs

Hope Valley College is a school with a long history of providing an education that is broader than just academic results. We will support and empower every member of our community to leave us with the values, experiences and confidence that will enable our students to aspire and achieve.

We believe that a HVC education should be defined by:

Names, not just numbers

We embrace the opportunities that being a smaller school offers. In an age which can appear dominated by data-sets and league tables, we will provide a nurturing, student-focused, environment, where decisions will be driven by how best to meet the individual needs of our students, staff and communities.

Outlooks, not just outcomes

HVC believes passionately that educational excellence should be measured on more than just results. It is about enriching young people with the character, attitudes and self-belief to enable them to grasp opportunities, make the most of their abilities and unlock the doors to their future.

Culture, not just structure

We believe in the importance of culture. While we are lucky to live and work in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, we recognise that we need to prepare our staff and students to achieve in the 21st century. To do this, we will embrace innovation, work collaboratively with partners to adopt best practice, welcome and respect different cultures and faiths and be transparent and accountable for our actions.
