Principal's update 3 March 2023

Published on 03/03/23

Dear Parents and Carers

We have been approached by the Football Association and others to install a 3G pitch facility at HVC for the community. The initial site feasibility study shows that this is possible but to make this happen we would need to raise funds to support the application.  The High Peak Borough Council are on board, the FA is on-board, but we need help to organise the fundraising.  There is a six-month window to raise the funds – do you or anyone you know have the capacity/expertise to help us?  If you think you may be able to help, please reply to this email. Thank you.

Thank you to those parents and carers who attended our Y10 subject evening yesterday. We hope you found the time useful.

Students enjoyed our LEAD day yesterday and took part in a variety of different workshops and sessions. Year 7 looked at British values and Human rights. Year 8 had a busy day filled with poetry, wellbeing and a talk from the local PCSOs. Year 9 focused on futures and enjoyed sessions by speakers from organisations such as Rolls Royce, the agricultural industry and Buxton & Leek College. Medical mavericks offered a host of different sessions to Year 10 students, opening their eyes to different careers in the medical industry. Year 11 enjoyed a morning’s bowling followed by lunch, before returning to school for a revision session. Thank you to all our visitors for their support.

What’s going on in school:

  • Congratulations to Freyja in Y8 who recently took part in the IET Lego League competition. Her team won the award for Best Project.

  • World Book Day was celebrated in school today, with staff dressing up as characters from their favourite books. Students completed a quiz to identify characters around school. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens was the inspiration for English Faculty staff. As students have been studying this book for GCSE, there were familiar with the characters.

Students can get a World Book Day book token using the QR code below:
