School Ceilidh

Published on 05/02/20

We shall be hosting a Ceilidh and performance on Thursday 13th of February at 4pm – 6pm in the school hall

Over the last few weeks we have been lucky to be part of a Folk Music project in collaboration with the National Youth Folk Ensemble and the English Folk Dance and Song Society. We have had a number of fantastic professional folk musicians visit us as well as alumni members of the National Youth Folk Ensemble giving our students and resident folk ensemble a number of folk workshops. The outcome has been fantastic, with inspirational playing from all the excellent musicians at Hope Valley College. Have a look on the Hope Valley Website for a write up about these workshops and to listen to recordings of our progress and rehearsals so far.

To celebrate this project and share our work with you, we shall be hosting a Ceilidh and performance on Thursday 13th of February at 4pm – 6pm in the school hall. This will be a joyous event with fun Ceilidh dancing, live folk music from our visiting professionals with a number of performances by our dedicated HVC folk ensemble and the 9 – 11 students that have participated in this project.

I would like to take this opportunity to invite all student participants of the project, as well as friends and family to come along to the Ceilidh and performance on Thursday 13th of February at 4pm – 6pm in the school hall to join in the festivities and hear your child perform – dancing not compulsory! Entry to this event is completely free with refreshments being served by the PTFA.
