Curriculum

At Hope Valley College, we aim to inspire and nurture every individual student to be the best they can be. Our curriculum is ambitious and wide ranging. We give our students access to ideas and experiences that they won’t encounter in their lives outside of school. We value knowledge which broadens horizons and enables our students to make connections and see possibilities. We offer the range of qualifications that we know will unlock doors in the future and give our students the chance to access the most ambitious next steps they can.

Hope Valley College also prides itself on the breadth of curriculum: we know our community values the opportunities we provide to study artistic, vocational and creative courses alongside the traditional academic subjects. We make the most of our wonderful setting with an outdoor activities programme which is followed by all students in Years 9 and 10.

We look after the personal development of our students through the personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education curriculum which is delivered by tutors and includes RSE (relationships and sex education). We offer a range of leadership opportunities to students as they move through the school. Finally, we prioritise and promote chances to participate in the wider life of the school through a programme of extracurricular opportunities.

You can find out more about the curriculum we offer in the key stage 3 curriculum and key stage 4 curriculum web pages.

More information about how we assess students and use this information to promote progress is available on the teaching and learning page.
