Headteacher's Update 22 May 2026
Dear Parents and Carers
On Thursday, we celebrated with our Y11 students and looked back on their journey with us. They were very respectful and had a wonderful afternoon reflecting on their time at Hope Valley College. We know they will work hard over the next week and be ready for their next exams.
As we go into the final summer term, I would ask that any uniform for the next term meets with our expectations of blue or black knee-length shorts or skirts. I would also ask that you provide a water bottle for your young person so that they can fill these up at break and lunchtime.
We look forward to seeing Years 7-10 on their return to school on Monday 1 June.

What’s going on in school?
- Frozen – The Musical – Auditions - From Mrs Machan and Mrs Starbuck-Ahmed - Thank you to all 135 people who signed up to our upcoming show! We are delighted to announce auditions will take place W/C 15 June! Please see the attached document for all dates, times, venues and audition materials. All young people can also access these materials on teams as we've set up a Frozen Cast Group.
- Students who are taking part in the Duolingo streak competition should send proof of their streak to Mr Barnes, as the prize draw will soon take place! A screenshot can be emailed to Mr Barnes, but it must show which language is being studied.
- Well done to our Sports Leaders, who helped to run another successful event for our local primary schools. Nearly 100 children from KS2 took part in an afternoon of rounders on the field in the sunshine.

Our PTFA provides school with valuable funds and this year their target is to raise £25,000 to improve our sports facilities and equipment. If you are interested, please pop along and meet the team and find out more about them.
Y11 Students
Please could we politely request that school meal accounts are kept in credit as we approach the final few weeks of Y11 students being in school. Can you also ensure that any school library books are returned to the library or to reception before their last day.
The English Faculty would be very grateful to receive donations of CGP revision guides for English Literature and English Language that are no longer required by Y11 students.
Boots donations
We are working with a local company on a dry-stone wall project and are in need of 5 pairs of steel toe capped boots for students to wear. We would be very grateful for any donations – any size!
