A roundup of the weekend's athletics and fell running results for HVC students
Last weekend saw the regional schools athletics meet at Moorways Stadium in Derby and also the inter-counties Junior English Fell Running Championships, both with strong representations from HVC students.
On Saturday Maddy Richardson finished 4th in the junior girls 800m (2m 41s) whilst Ellie Cave finished 5th in the javelin (15.25m)
In the Junior Boys class Theo Ireson won the 80m hurdles and finished 14th in the 100m (15.89s), Nathanael Gaskin finished 5th in the 200m (30.55s) and 12th in the 100m (15.05s), Jack Cook finished 7th in the 1,500m (5m 02s) and Dylan Heason finished 2nd in the 80m hurdles (18.15s) and 10th in the long jump (3.8m).
For the Intermediate Boys Bryn Heason finished second in both the high jump (1.50m) and triple jump (10.23m).
On the Sunday Jack Cook rallied himself to come a very credible 14th in the national inter-counties fell racing champs.
Many of these students were competing at the lower end of three-year age categories and in events they had had very little experience in due to covid.
